Small Island Wood Floors offer custom floor design and in-home consultation for the Greater Vancouver Region, Victoria Region and the Southern Gulf Islands of British Columbia. We also offer consulting services by phone or e-mail.
On the right, the picture depicts a wood floor made of Red Alder from the BC coast. For this particular project, Small Island Wood Floors' team used a variety of their pioneer techniques including a hand distress bevel that creates an uneven, flowing effect and a rustic ambiance. Reclaimed wood also creates a unique look. Small Island Wood Floors' team treats reclaimed wood with great respect and uses a variety of hand-finishing techniques to bring out all the beauty and history of aged wood. Each floor becomes an art form when non-conventional methods are used.
We specialize in Custom Site-Finished Wood Floors and we also install solid Pre-Finished Wood Floors. Our specialty lies in the making of reclaimed wood floors and sculpted floors.

Humidity for example is a very important. We will not install a wood floor unless it is acclimated to the work site in order to maximize its stability and to minimize the movement of the wood during different seasons. We use the best available environmentally-friendly water-base finishes from glossy (wet look) to satin mat and super matte (wax look). Super matte finishes are chosen for their hiding qualities and for the soft appearance it brings to the wood. We use top-quality equipment to install and sand floors, increasing the work precision and efficiency. Special care is taken to minimize dust dispersal. All rooms with newly finished floors are thoroughly cleaned and ready to move in. Small Island Wood Floors guaranties professionalism and the best work quality.

We have extensive
knowledge on all matters related to wood floors. We will assist you in choosing
the best wood flooring for your needs, décor and situation. Considering usage
(kitchen, hall, bedroom etc.), traffic (pets, children, seasonal use, etc.), sun
exposure, humidity control, ambiance and budget we will give you advice on which
wood species would best suit your needs. 
We have extensive knowledge in house construction and wood flooring and can usually readily detect
structural problems that would cause damage to wood floors and find solutions to
remediate to a trouble spot. We inspect and analyze each work site before
installing a wood floor to avoid any problems that could arise in the future.
Tools such wood moisture reader, dehumidifier and heaters are used to help
restore a proper work site if needed.
